CBD (cannabidiol) has been removed from the prohibited substance list in competitive sports by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Previously, all cannabinoids were prohibited in-competition by WADA.
Thanks to Nate Diaz, who, during a post fight press conference following his MMA fight with Conor McGregor, was seen vaping CBD, in contradiction to the ‘in-competition’ window. Diaz was given a public warning by the US anti-doping agency, which brought CBD use in sports into the light.
When asked about his CBD use, Diaz replied, “It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. So you want to get these for before and after the fights, training. It’ll make your life a better place.”
CBD can now be used pre and post competition, since it is no longer on WADAs prohibited substance list. This news has been welcomed by professional athletes and competitive sports enthusiasts alike.
However, whole plant extracts and tinctures, which contain trace amounts of other cannabinoids will still be a subject of consideration for those using whole plant CBD hemp products such as pastes and oils.
Holistic Hemp Scotland has worked to come up with a CBD product that is safe for use in competitive sport. Our rapidly absorbed water-soluble formula increases bio-availability, without the concern of other cannabinoids building up in your system.
CBD oil, and whole plant hemp extracts are not water soluble, which means unpredictability and variations in how they are absorped into the bloodstream. Our new water soluble formula is designed to be absorbed through the digestive tract and directly into the human endocannabinoid system.
Our CBD capsules are also available with added turmeric paste extract.
